Chef Ron Pei, 27, knew what he was getting into when he went to culinary school at the CCA—he grew up in the restaurant industry. His parents are the owners of Café Yulong in Mountain View and his father, James Pei, got his start with the doyenne of Chinese cuisine, Cecilia Chiang, when she hired him to work at the celebrated (now defunct) Mandarin restaurant. Ron worked in the kitchen of Postrio and Salt House before joining the Laiola kitchen in August of 2007.

Prior to becoming a chef Ron double majored at the University of Kansas earning his degrees in history and communications. Ron spends nearly every morning at our local farmer’s markets and lives in downtown San Francisco.
